Mark's Silvia Turbo Page
| Hi there as you can guess my name is Mark & my page is about Nissan's Silvia model, S12 to be exact. This car is the only variant called the Silvia in the UK as the S13 was never imported & the S14 is called the 200SX (1993 onwards before that the 200SX was a re-badged 180SX). The Silvia is a much ignored car here in the UK & thus can be had for very low amounts of cash i.e. £500 for a 1988 model. This is about half the price of comparable cars such as a Celica or Prelude. Both these cars technically offer more power but deliver it in such a way that under normal road conditions the Silvia is the faster car due to much better torque delivery through the use of it's small low pressure T2 turbo, whereas the other two cars rely on normal aspiration & slightly larger capacity, 2ltr with DOHC 16v to the Silvia's 1.8ltr SOHC 8v turbo. Another benefit of the Silvia over these cars is that it is rear wheel drive rather than front wheel drive, allowing much more scope for fun driving. |
